Welcome to FEDIYMA, the European Federation of DIY Manufacturers!

FEDIYMA , the European Federation of DIY and Gardening Manufacturers, was created in March 2000. Its founding members are BHETA in the UK , Germany ’s BAU+DIY and Unibal of France. FEBIN in Belgium, Danish Building Materials Federation in Denmark and AFEB in Spain have also joined FEDIYMA.

Why FEDIYMA?
With the DIY – including the gardening sector – business becoming increasingly global, it is important that European manufacturers and suppliers have access to the strength and support of a European federation.
Given the formation of NAFTA (North America Free Trade Agreement) and the close co-operation that exists between the ASEAN countries, the Single European Market is assuming an ever more prominent position in global trade. The euro reinforced the status of Europe as a trading block.
The formation of a European Federation of Manufacturers reflects the growing international status of this region and provides its member companies with the competitive advantage that comes from being part of both a national association and a European federation.

FEDIYMA was given a four-fold mission:

  • Track consumer trends
A major objective for Fediyma is to better understand the consumer and trends in their spending habits: why do consumers improve their homes and do DIY and Gardening jobs, what are the barriers to undertaking more jobs, how do they choose products and stores, what do they expect from manufacturers and retailers? Equally important is to understand the similarities and differences between countries.
  • Improve market knowledge
The European DIY and Gardening market is particularly difficult to monitor. Distribution channels differ, retailers are quite dissimilar, and last but not least, market definitions are not aligned. Thus, Fediyma’s second objective is to bring clarity to the statistics on DIY and Gardening in Europe and to update the community on trends in globalisation.
  • Encourage exports and international relationship
Many manufacturers have a significant share of their turnover in export. Fediyma wants to assist them by providing access to better knowledge of foreign markets, preferential treatment in major fair and trade missions. Also, Fediyma wants to promote networking between European manufacturers in order to share knowledge.
  • Represent manufacturers and help them grow
Fediyma communicates to and works with all the DIY/Garden stakeholders: retailers, press, financial world, service providers... The objective is to help manufacturers to operate more efficiently. A strong link has been established with EDRA, the European DIY Retailer´s Association.

Fediyma carries out many projects in line with the above mission and encapsulates its effort in the statement: "Better prepared for tomorrow"
