The British Hardware & Housewares Manufacturers’ Association
(BHHMA) was founded in 1958 to cater for the professional and commercial
interests of the UK ’s many manufacturers and suppliers of DIY,
Housewares and related homeware products.
From its Brooke House headquarters in Northampton in central England
, the BHHMA currently caters for a membership of over 300 companies which
generate combined retail sales in the UK of £10 billion, and export
sales in excess of £950 million.
The BHHMA’s member companies span the corporate spectrum - from
small- to medium- to large-sized organisations - and market many of the
top brands sold throughout the UK and around the world.
Recognising its responsibility to perform different roles to meet the
varying needs of its diverse membership base, the BHHMA is dedicated
to representing and protecting its members’ interests and assisting
wherever possible with their commercial success.
To achieve this goal, the structure of the BHHMA includes a Board of
Directors, as well as a number of committees which investigate and advise
the membership on pertinent issues, such as export opportunities, environmental
matters, market intelligence, effective communication and membership
services.
For 2005 we have launched a brand new trade show concept
for the UK industry, 'Exclusively DIY'
The 'Exclusively' approach creates a focussed format
with only Hardware and DIY buyers invited to the show,
no one else gets in! Costs are controlled with three comprehensive
core packages, covering stand space, construction, food & drink
at the show and tickets to the exclusive Gala Evening. Full
details can be found at www.exdiy.com
With the retail business becoming increasingly global, the BHHMA recognises
the critical need for its members to embrace technological advances
such as e-commerce and the Internet. The BHHMA has its own website,
providing links to its members’ websites, the BHHMA’s site
is a valuable and easily accessible source of quality products and
market information for buyers, retailers, stockists, wholesalers and
importers of home related products - throughout the UK and around the
world.
The BHHMA constantly reviews its comprehensive range of cost-effective
services and programs to ensure we meet our members ever changing needs. We
have established a Recruitment Service, to ensure our members have access
to the best talent in the industry and a Packaging Waste System
that offers the best service and value for money in the market.
Our new Healthcare Trust Scheme ensures that member companies
can offer their employees private health care at a reasonable
cost by using the economies of scale offered by being a
member of the Association.
Plus we offer many other environmental and trade
related services that can be previewed on our website.
The BHHMA also has a range of services on offer to its members, to encourage
greater levels of export activity. We are official UK government sponsors
at many overseas fairs, offering discounts to UK exporters.
The BHHMA are aware of the critical need for better communication and
closer ties with its members’ trading partners. FEDIYMA, the Federation
of European DIY Manufacturers Associations is a wonderful vehicle to
achieve many of these aims, and the BHHMA is proud to be a founding member
of Fediyma.
