BHETA was founded in 1958 to cater for the professional and commercial interests of the UK ’s many manufacturers and suppliers of DIY, housewares and related homeware products.

From its Federation House headquarters in Birmingham in central England, BHETA currently caters for a membership of over 300 companies which generate combined retail sales in the UK of £10 billion, and export sales in excess of £950 million.

BHETA’s member companies span the corporate spectrum - from small- to medium- to large-sized organisations - and market many of the top brands sold throughout the UK and around the world.

Recognising its responsibility to perform different roles to meet the varying needs of its diverse membership base, BHETA is dedicated to representing and protecting its members’ interests and assisting wherever possible with their commercial success.

To achieve this goal, the structure of BHETA includes a Board of Directors, as well as a number of committees which investigate and advise the membership on pertinent issues, such as export opportunities, environmental matters, market intelligence, effective communication and membership services.

With the retail business becoming increasingly global, BHETA recognises the critical need for its members to embrace technological advances such as e-commerce and the Internet. BHETA has its own website – www.bheta.co.uk - providing links to its members’ websites. BHETA’s site is a valuable and easily accessible source of quality products and market information for buyers, retailers, stockists, wholesalers and importers of home related products - throughout the UK and around the world.

BHETA constantly reviews its comprehensive range of cost-effective services and programs to ensure it meets its members ever changing needs offering the best service and value for money in the market.

The Association’s Healthcare Trust Scheme ensures that member companies can offer their employees private healthcare at a reasonable cost, by using the economies of scale offered by being a member of the Association.

Plus BHETA offers many other environmental and trade related services that can be previewed on its website. BHETA also has a range of services on offer to its members to encourage greater levels of export activity. The Association acts as an official UK government sponsor at many overseas fairs, offering discounts to UK exporters. BHETA is aware of the critical need for better communication and closer ties with its members’ trading partners. FEDIYMA is a wonderful vehicle to achieve many of these aims, and BHETA is proud to be one of its founding members.
